Yuri Plisetsky is one of the main characters in Yuri!!! on Ice. He is the second Russian figure skater introduced and as a rival to Yuri Katsuki. Yuri was raised by his grandfather in Moscow, Russia.
Yuri has been figure skating from a young age. He moved to Saint Petersburg to train under Yakov Feltsman. Yuri dominated Junior Figure Skating, being a two-time consecutive Junior World Champion.
Furthermore, he is a two-time, consecutive champion of the Junior Grand Prix Final. Yuri has also received the name Yurio to not confuse the two Yuris.
The appearance of Yuri Plisetsky
Yuri Plisetsky has a skinny frame with a short physique. He has blond hair and viridian-colored eyes.
Yurio has the nickname of the Russian Fairy for his beautiful appearance. Yurio is mostly seen in his training outfit or his costume.
He also seems to love clothes with big cat prints. As we see him buying an obnoxiously loud t-shirt with a tiger printed on it.
Skating Skills
Jumps: Yurio has shown amazing ability in performing jumps from a very early age. He even got scolded by Yakov for changing one jump into a Quadruple Salchow during a local competition.
He also helped Yuri Katsuki with his jump.
In “In Regards to Love: Agape” he had quads planned in the second half of the performance to maximize his score. Additionally, in “Allegro Appassionato” he again had planned 6 out of 8 jumps in the second half.
Ballet: Yuri Plisetsky has been practicing ballet for his cross-training regimen since he was around 10 years old. With Lilia entering, Yuri again takes up ballet seriously as a part of his training for the Grand Prix Final.
Spins: With his ballet skill, Yuri is able to hold spirals in a half-Biellmann position. His signature spin when he was a junior skater was the combination spin.
Programs
Short program: He performed the routine choreographed by Victor Nikiforov, especially for Yuri Plisetsky. The song composition was “In Regards to Love: Agape”, distinctively different from Yuri’s usual style.
Free program: Yurio performed “Piano Concerto in B-minor: Allegro Appasionato” choreographed by Lilia Baranovskaya. Moreover, the song is known for its difficult intensity.
Exhibition program: For Grand Prix Final his original routine was “Angel of the Fire Festival”. This routine was also choreographed by Lilia.
However, he chose to not perform because he did not want this to remind anyone of his free skate.
Exhibition program: The song Yurio chose to perform is “Welcome to The Madness”. He chose this after he heard Otabek Altin play this in a rock club.
Yuri choreographed for this program himself. Otabek as well joins Yuri in this performance.
