Naruto is a Japanese manga series written and illustrated by Masashi Kishimoto. The plot of this manga series revolves around Naruto Uzumaki, a young Ninja who wants recognition from his peers and dreams of becoming the Hokage, the leader of his village.

This story is held in two parts- the first set was in Naruto’s pre-teen years and the second is shown when he is in his teens. This series is based on two One-shot manga by Kishimoto Karakuri (1995).

This manga series has gained a lot of fame because of its twist and storyline. But my friend, if you are looking for an exact answer to why Naruto cut his hair then, there is no exact answer to this question now. There have been many theories proposed by the fans of this manga which we can say is the reason for the same. Without any other further ado let's dive into the topic.

What is Naruto’s role in the manga series?

Naruto Uzumaki is the main character of the manga Naruto. If you are new to his manga, here is a quick review.  As the series begins, we see that he is a young ninja from the fictional village of Konohagakure.

The villagers ridicule and ostracize Naruto on account of the Nine-tailed demon fox- this is a dangerous creature that attacked the village. Naruto plays a very important role here.

Also despite this, he wants to be his village's leader, the Hokage.

When creating Naruto as the main character, Kishimoto kept all the other characters “simple and stupid”, while giving Naruto a lot of attributes of an ideal hero. Kishimoto gave Naruto a dark side in the manga series too, like he added tragedy to other characters’ past.

Also, he had changed Naruto’s image many times, like by providing the characters with different clothing styles. We can say that Kishimoto wanted to appeal to western audiences.  He also changed the design for part-2 of the storyline, which got going two and a half years after part 1.

Let me just start off by saying that there is not an exact answer to this question as mentioned above. But if we say in other words, there are several reasons why the creator of the show Naruto decided to cut off his main character’s hair.

In particular, we can say that the most common explanation to this question would be that the manga series sequence wanted an easy animation, and their cutting his hair played a major role in this decision.

Also, it's a common belief that we saw in the manga that cutting his hair changed his personality and led to character development. The creators might have wanted to give an edge to his character and therefore ended up cutting his hair short.

Let’s also see this topic from the fan's point of view, when fans get invested in a character, in particular, if it is the main character of any manga like Naruto they do get attached to the character.

But if there is any change in the character it's very uncertain to say if the fans would like it or not. Unfortunately, Naruto is one of those characters. Most of the fans of the manga series had reacted in a very repulsive way to the whole hairstyle change.

Naruto is one of the very famous manga series and his trademark silky blond hair is his personality trait. The effect that the directions were aiming for has been worked very well.

The change in his hairstyle does make him look a little more mature and responsible and gives the whole manga a different shift as a whole.

In the last, Naruto the Movie, Naruto was shown as an adult with a “Buzzcut” if I am not wrong, which has also attracted a lot of fans.

Although the reasons for these changes in the manga series have not been confirmed yet. But as you all know, Manga fans have stated many reasons and verdicts for the change. But what according to you would be the reason behind this change?
