Strong Girl Do Bong Soon is a 2017 south Korean Television series Park Bo-Young, Park Hyung-sik and Ji Soo. Park Bo Young is the main character as the role of the woman in the title of the drama. It aired on JTBC from February 24 to April 15,2017. This series was a commercial hit and became one of the highest Korean Series on cable television history.
What is the drama all about?
Do Bong Soon is born with supernatural abilities. She has superhuman strength. Bong-soon is so strong that she could literally crack Walnuts using only her one hand. This strength of hers is hereditary and is being passed on to the women of her family from generations.
This ability of hers make her special from other people. Somehow, Bong soon is both happy and sad about this power of hers. Happy because she is able to help people who are in need but at the same time she is not able to live a normal life, unlike other people.
Bong-soon especially pretends to be a delicate and elegant woman, which is the ideal type of her crush, In Guk Doo. Guk-Doo is a police officer and is often spotted helping Bong-Soon whenever she is in need. Both of them were friends since high school and even lived in the same place. Bong-soon liked Guk-Doo since she was in high school but never confessed her feelings for him.
Even though Bong-soon was an adult, she had no stable job. Thanks to her strength, she got a job as a bodyguard at rich heir Ahn Min-Hyuk, the CEO of a gaming company named Ainsoft. In comparison to Guk-Doo, Min-Huk is a very cheerful and carefree man.
He is playful, a little spoiled has no regard for rules as he believes in making his own rules, and he especially disliked policemen. Ahn Min-Hyuk was recently started receiving anonymous threat calls and was even being stalked.
This made his life problematic which resulted in sleepless nights and stress. These calls lead him to hire Bong-Soon as his bodyguard after witnessing her beating up a bunch of gangsters at a construction site when they threatened an elementary school bus.
Meanwhile, a series of kidnappings start happening in Dobong Dong, the area where Bong Soon lives. As the cases of kidnapping keep on increasing, Bong-Soon becomes very determined to catch the culprit. Her determination to catch the kidnapper becomes stronger when the kidnapper tries to attack her best friend, Gyeung-Shim.
But Bong-Soon was not able to control her overflowing power. she was scared of the punishment if she misuses or hurt someone innocent. It was very obvious that misuse of her god gifted powers will lead to the loss of her powers. At this point, Bong-Soon was in need of her powers more than ever.
With the help and training of her boss Ahn Min-Hyuk she learns to control her power and use it for good cause. This training and uneven series that occur while catching the culprit brings Min-Huk and Bong-Soon closer. Their relationship grows much more than that of an employee and boss.
Who Was The Killer In Strong Girl Do Bong Soon?
Kim Jang-Hyun is the main antagonist of the K drama Strong Girl Do Bong Soon. He kidnaps young, skinny women and chains them in the basement of his junkyard. He is a young man with black messy hair which usually covers his face. Whenever he goes kidnapping, he wears a skin color rubber mask.
Ever since Jang-Hyun saw the play “Bluebeard and his seven wives”, he got obsessed with it and watched it multiple times. His obsession with the play reached a very unhealthy level.
He started seeing himself as the main lead role and decided to kidnap seven women and lock them up. He is the owner of a junkyard where he has a hideous underground room. While kidnapping the first woman he ended up killing her by chance.
After the kidnapping of two women, the police bring him in for questioning. While at the police station, he placed a small spy camera to keep a check on the police investigation. He managed to make a fool of the police as he wore big-sized shoes on purpose In order to distract them from the actual clues.
How Did Bong Soon Lose Her Powers?
Later, when he tries to kidnap Bong Soon’s best friend Gyeung Shim to which he fails in the first time as Bong Soon came to her friend’s rescue. This hurt Jang-Hyun’s ego. After kidnapping a few more other women, he again tries to kidnap Gyeung Shim and is successful. He distracts Bong Soon from finding out by texting and staying in touch with her through Gyeung Shim’s phone, but eventually, Bong Soon realized it’s not her friend.
He sends a threatening video to Bong Soon, that he would kill Gyeung Shim if she tells police. While texting, Bong Soon reveals that she will lose her powers if she harms anyone innocent. In order to find her friend, she confronts Jang-Hun alone but she fails to understand the trap set by Jang-Hun. She ends up injuring an old man whom Jang-Hun kidnapped in order to fool Bong Soon.
Bong-soon ends up losing her powers. She always considered her powers some sort of burden but as now she lost she felt incomplete. Jang-Hyun was still hell-bent on taking his revenge from Bong-Soon and as now she had no powers it was easy. He enters very smartly inside Min-Hyuk’s company and kidnaps Bong Soon and ties her with a bomb at the terrace.
As Min-Hyuk finds out that Bong Soon is in danger, he refuses to leave. In order to save Min-Hyuk and herself, she pleaded to get her powers back. The god listened to her prayer and grants her wish and she ends up saving Min-Hyuk and herself. Later, Min-Hyuk, Bong-Soon, and Guk-Doo sets a trap for Jang-Hyun and ended up capturing him. The trio ended up saving a lot of lives.
It is a very funny and interesting drama. Especially the chemistry between Bong-Soon and Min-Hyuk is eye-catching. It is worth the watch.
