The IPL T20 is the most-attended cricket league in the world and for good reason. Cricket fans from all over the world enjoy the spectacular fast-paced showmanship of players coming from different countries. Watching players such as Virat Kohli and Jasprit Bumrah play against each other in a T-20 match is like watching Goku battle it out with Naruto, something that would be impossible in usual international cricket.
Speaking of Goku, if there is anything that can rival IPL T20 in its fast-paced action, it’s shonen action anime!
Here’s a list of 11 IPL cricketers and their anime counterparts
MS Dhoni as Erwin Smith from Attack on Titan
MS Dhoni has been the captain of arguably the most consistently successful IPL team, Chennai Super King since the beginning of the IPL T20. Much like Erwin Smith from Attack on Titan who always has a game plan for every possible scenario, MSD seems to be in control of the entire game when he is on the field. Both of them aren’t afraid to take risks and believe greatly in the strength of their teammates. And of course, their own might and abilities are forces to be reckoned with. With these men in charge, nothing can ever go wrong.

Chris Gayle as All Might from My Hero Academia
I needn’t describe the sheer power of Chris Gayle’s sixers or All Might’s legendary punches. Over the years, Gayle has cemented himself as a reliable powerhouse. While delivering a consistently powerful performance as a cricketer, Gayle doesn’t forget to put on a good show for the viewers. This is very much like All Might’s conviction of saving people with a smile.
Virat Kohli as Katsuki Bakugo from My Hero Academia
With devastating explosive powers both Bakugo and Kohli can’t help but be the MVP of any scenario, they are put in. The two are known and loved for their sometimes arrogant aggression when they are in action. But we can clearly see that this aggression is just an expression of the passion that they have.
Hotheaded as they may be, both of them never lose sight of what is important and are always able to think clearly and keep their head in the game. Additionally, Kohli much like Bakugo has already established himself through his raw talent. Yet, both still have a lot in store for us.
Rohit Sharma as Gohan from Dragonball Z
Much like Gohan, Rohit Sharma showed signs of being talented from very early on. While the player may have been inconsistent at first, much like Gohan, he has turned out to be one of the most reliable and powerful cricketers of the premier league. On a good day, anyone would be scared of facing “The Hitman” on the pitch or Gohan in a fight.
Jofra Archer as Beast Titan from Attack on Titan
Jofra Archer quickly rose to fame for throwing balls at paces faster than 140 kmph on the regular. While he and the beast titan play completely different games, the destructive power of their throws is consistent and universally acknowledged. In IPL T20 ‘2019, Jofra Archer was able to catch MS Dhoni by surprise, so much so as to make the latter lose his balance through his bowling at 142.5 kmph. Much like the beast titan knocking Erwin off his feet through his “throws”.
Ben Stokes as Vegeta from Dragonball Z
Both Stokes and Vegeta are known for a combative hot-headedness, a strong built and sheer outrageous talent.
Following incidents of public altercations and arrest, Stokes made a comeback through his willpower and character ensuring to be more well known for positive reasons. Just like our villain turned hero-ish Vegeta in Dragonball Z, the two haven’t lost their temper, but they more than make up for it by giving their utmost best in every gameplay or situation.
Andre Russell as Kenpachi Zaraki from Bleach
When it comes to annihilating the opponent without mercy, there is no one better than these two men. The Jamaican cricketer is well known for finishing matches with power and style. Like Kenpachi from Bleach keeps looking for high stake battles and strong opponents, Russell has expressed he enjoys playing under tense situations, particularly in death overs.
AB de Villiers as Koro-Sensei from Assassination Classroom
A man of overflowing talents and capabilities who can handle any position given to him with utmost ease. This description fits both the all-rounder AB de Villiers and the jack of all trades, master of all – Koro-Sensei.
ABD is well known for hitting any ball from anywhere against any bowler. Likewise, Koro Sensei can evade any assassin attacking from anywhere in any way. With their consistent performance and reliability, both have garnered much respect and love from fans all over the world.
Glen Maxwell as Sakata Gintoki from Gintama
Sakata Gintoki, The Gintama protagonist is undoubtedly very powerful and capable. However, things don’t often go his way and more often than not, he ends up messing things for his team. The same can be said for the all-rounder from RCB. That being said, when Maxwell is in his element, very few can stand up against the cricketer and survive.
Hardik Pandya as Chuuya Nakahara from Bungo Stray Dogs
Both Chuuya and Pandya emerged as immensely talented yet somewhat reckless newcomers. However, their potential was recognised by viewers and veterans all over and with time they have more than proven themselves as a one-man army.
KL Rahul as Ichigo Kurosaki from Bleach
The tall, young, elegant cricketer showed signs of incredible talent since his early days in cricket. Over time his capabilities as a cricketer became well regarded amongst some of the most respected veterans like Rahul Dravid. This closely resembles Ichigo’s rise from a normal human being with immense potential to devastating Soul Reaper known and feared by all.
