Violet Evergarden Episode 13, the Final episode of Season 1. Well, I did it! I watched the entire season, not just to watch it but because the story and this wonderful girl Violet had my heart.
There’s something lovely about watching someone grow, it lets you know what you are capable of. And its nice to have that reminder every once in a while. To not forget what we can do and do know how much it matters to allow ourselves to feel.
The war continues on top of the train
Captain Bougainville and Violet are on top of the train, holding their forte and fighting off the General. During this he lets them know how there are bombs attached to the bridge and within minutes, they all will probably die. Violet determined to save the people decides to stop the train before reaching the bridge and with all her strength she’s at it.
Benedict decides to help her out, watching her lose her arms trying to save a lot of humans, probably inspired him to come forward and do the same.
Violet saves the day
And once again, with all her determination and passion to be better, She saves the train from getting bombed. They are able to continue on the mission and the peace treaty is signed. To celebrate that, an air show is being held, for which Violet and Cattleya are writing letters for everyone. An aeroplane will fly off dropping a gazillion letters for everyone. what a beautifully cute way to celebrate!
Captain Bougainville, who saw how she had grown as a person decides to take her home to meet their mother. Gilbert and Dietfried’s mother meets Violet and tells her how she even though its painful to part with Gilbert, it isnt her fault. The two of them connect and its absolutely beautiful. It’s also amazing to watch Dietfried change how he looks at Violet, how all along he saw her as a tool. But he realises that Gilbert never treated her like that, he treated her with love & respect and that’s why even after losing her arms and everything else, the girl is full of this passionate fire to fight the world.
First attempt at writing a letter
Cattleya in this process encourages Violet to write a letter herself. Violet tells her how she’s never written one but this time, she decides to go ahead and do that.
She decides to write to Major Gilbert, telling him how she won’t give up on him. How over time she’s learnt what her emotions means, how she feels and has been able to make a difference in the lives of people. How she somehow feels like she knows what ‘I Love You’ means and how thankful she is for him.
The episode ends with a special request for her, where she’s asked to go on an assignment. She knocks on the door and greets the person on the other side, but gasps in between.
Of course I’m thinking wait, was it Gilbert? Is he alive? Does she finally meet him? What will happen next? Is there a season2? There should be a season 2. And I hope these questions are answered soon enough. In my heart of hearts, I wish she meets Gilbert.
