Based on the webtoon of the same name published in 2016 by Naver Webtoon, it centers on the life of a college student who went under cosmetic surgery to evade bullies, yet her decision seems to backfire as he peers decided to make fun of the fact that she is living under a mask now. The title of the K-Drama and Webtoon highlights the Korean word Gangnammiin, a derogatory term used for people who are attractive but look as if they went through several surgeries to get a pretty face or a hot body or both.

The show is highly talked about and so is the webtoon it is based on. The K-Drama and webtoon follow the same story. It revolves around a stoic, arrogant, and yet handsome Vice President of a major corporation who is set to lose his dedicated and trusted secretary who was with him for the past nine years. Once hearing of her resignation, he comes to realize how much he needs her in his life. He goes into a spiral of attraction, feelings, and jealousy when it comes to her. Along the way, they fall in love and realize they were fated all along since they were kids.

It was a smash hit after it was released.  The drama enthralled the audience as it had a riveting love triangle which was worth the attention. The creator expressed it was a dream come true to see her work turned into a drama.
