What is the Plot of Skip Beat?
Unlike most of the Shoujo manga, Skip Beat is completely different.
The premise of Skip Beat is set in the showbiz industry and revolves around Kyoko Mogami.
Kyoko Mogami is the main protagonist of the series.
Kyoko is a very different character and manga heroine from what you’ve probably expected. Is Kyoko loving, dedicated, sincere, and naive?
You bet she is; so what makes Kyoko different from other characters? Unlike other characters, Kyoko is tenacious, determined, and perseveres with a level-headed dedication to chase her goals.
He refuses to back down. Kyoko, the average 16-year-old girl, got betrayed by her long-time friend Sho Fuwa.
Sho manipulated and used her for his gain.
They cohabitation together, where Kyoko supported Sho when he rebelled and left home to pursue the music industry.
Sho is a classic level definition of scumbag whom you will detest will all your guts.
Sho not only mistreated her, he practically messed up with Kyoko’s innocence.
He was the reason for Kyoko opening her sealed pandora box of demons.

Kyoko finally lost her cool after Sho’s betrayal and challenged him to get her revenge.
She entered showbiz to exact her vengeance on Sho, where she meets Tsuruga Ren, Sho’s rivals and nemesis.
This starts the story of Skip Beat. In the beginning, Ren didn’t have a good impression of Kyoko and thought she was chasing her idol and was nothing less than a compulsive stalker fan.
Ren didn’t approve of Kyoko’s reason to enter the showbiz world.
If it was only a story about Kyoko trying to get revenge on Sho, and ending up falling in love with Ren, then hold your thoughts.
That’s not the entire plot. Actually, that’s barely even the plot. The starting seasons focused on Kyoko’s revenge but somewhere the plot drifted away.

The story introduced great characters and arcs that were worth animating for! But Japan didn’t grant the wishes of the fans.
The fans who have watched Skip Beat anime season 1 must be aware of how the revenge plans went.
Kyoko literally went on a successful path where she made people acknowledge her.
Rather than blaming Sho or others, she didn’t waste her precious tears on anybody.
Her grand move to color her hair, and cut her hair short was really a shocking decision.
But, this was a good twist and defined Kyoko’s character. She was strong and she reflected on her actions.
Kyoko cared deep down about the people around her.
Skip Beat is a multi-layer onion that kept revealing things about Kyoko’s past, Ren’s past, and even Sho. However, Sho lacked a lot of character depth.
The manga explained Kyoko’s mom’s cold-hearted behavior.
Skip Beat Manga explained what was wrong with Ren and all about his past.
But somewhere down the years, the plot is going through a downward spiral.
Many new characters are introduced, but somehow they are just left in the background.
Does Sho fall in love with Kyoko?

Sho was always in denial. He definitely liked Kyoko since they were kids. He did treat Kyoko like a housemaid, but he’s clearly possessive of her.
Sho is extremely jealous of Tsuruga Ren and has declared war on him so many times.
He feels insecure about Ren and the reverse is true as well.
Sho is in love with Kyoko and later, much later in the manga he forcefully kisses Kyoko after she confronts her mom.
Kyoko was really upset about the kiss, but Sho’s resolve didn’t get weakened. He knew Ren would be aware but he still went ahead and calmed Kyoko.
