Death Note is without a doubt one of the most popular anime out there. But, it has been 13 years since the series ended. And now we seem to be finally getting a new supernatural thriller from the makers of Death Note in the form of Platinum End.

Platinum End started its serialization in 2015 under the Jump SQ. Label. And now with the series complete in 2021, it’s finally getting the much-awaited anime adaptation which will simulcast on online platforms such as Funimation and Crunchyroll starting October 7.


Platinum End follows the story of an orphan, Mirai Kakehashi, who is living a desolate life with his abusive relatives. One day in middle school, he attempts suicide, only to be saved by a girl clad in white, Nasse.

Nasse introduces herself as Mirai’s guardian angel and gives him a chance to become a God. But, to earn the position, Mirai needs to defeat 12 other God Candidates in 999 Days. Starting a battle royale between him and the candidates for the power to rule the world.
