One Piece is one of the longest-running anime and manga series. The manga started publishing in 1997 and the anime came out in 1999. The story is created by Oda Eiichiro, who quickly stole the public's hearts with his amazing art and story that tickles our fantasy.
The series revolves around Monkey D. Luffy, who gathers crew members to set sail and explore the world. While doing so, he also wishes to find the legendary treasure named "One Piece" and become "King of the Pirates".
Now, 25 years later after the manga was first published, the story is moving towards its final saga. While the impending end of this amazing journey brings us a sense of nostalgia, it also piques our curiosity all the more.
Chapter 1054 of One Piece revealed the new bounties of the Straw Hats. We also learned the truth behind the Cross Guild and Captain Buggy’s unfortunate circumstances. That is to say, the massive mistake of making Buggy the Emperor by the Marine serves as a relief comedy after the long Wano Saga.
Additionally, the chapter ended with a massive cliffhanger where Sabo had just contacted the new headquarters of the Revolutionary Army. Now the question remains, will we find out who killed Nefertari Cobra? And, what happened to Sabo after he rescued Kuma from the Mariejois?
What Happened at the Reverie?
In chapter 1054, Sabo was dubbed as the Flame Emperor after proving his prowess at the Reverie. Not only did he rescue his comrade from the clutches of the Celestial Dragons, but he also did so without suffering any casualties.

The Reverie is a week-long event held every four years where all the rules from the allied nations, the Celestial Dragons, and the higher-ups of the Marine gather together to discuss the state of the world.
This year’s Reverie achieved a historical benchmark with the disbandment of the Seven Warlord System. The ones leading the requests were none other than two kings who suffered the most because of the complete freedom given to the Warlords; Nefetari Cobra from Alabasta and King Riku III from Dressrosa.
However, the Revolutionary Army had its own plans to infiltrate the Reverie and also rescue Kuma who is now living as a slave after having his personality erased.

It was revealed to the world that Sabo had killed Nefertari Cobra, who is a direct descendant of one of the 20 rulers of the allied nations that formed the World Government in the void century. Not only that, but Princess Vivi went missing as well.
On the fourth day of Reverie, Sabo fought with Fujitora and Ryokugyu. It was supposed to be a stealth mission so the fact that Sabo fought with two of Marine’s powerhouses must mean that something went wrong with the mission and their cover was blown. After that, Kuma went back with the Revolutionary Army and Sabo lost contact with his allies.
Did Sabo Kill Nefertari Cobra?
Sabo is revered as a hero among the followers of the Revolutionary Army after the news of his recent exploits was published. However, thinking carefully about it, Sabo is not the person to go around killing people. He is a man with morals.

Moreover, Nefertari Cobra is a good person too, and an ally to Luffy. Not only that, but from the looks of it, the Marines are in the dark about it as well. They’re under the impression that it was indeed Sabo who had killed the king of Alabasta.
Under these circumstances, we can come up with a few scenarios. One, King Nefertari is indeed dead and the Gorosei is behind it.
Gorosei being the highest power in the world, listen only to Im, the one sitting on the empty throne whose identity is yet to be revealed. We already know that Im has some sort of interest in Princess Vivi.

Given that Vivi is Cobra’s daughter, we can easily figure out a connection. The fact that Vivi went missing backs up this theory. We also cannot ignore the fact that Gorosei considers the Nefertari family an eyesore because their ancestors rejected to ascend to Mariejois.
It could be possible that Sabo saved Vivi from Im and Gorosei. Or if we imagine the worst, she could be captured by Im himself. We do hope it’s the former.
Regardless of what happened in the Reverie, we can only say for certain that it doesn’t seem like Sabo could be the one to murder the innocent king.
