Horimiya is a Japanese TV series aired on 10 January 2021. It has both versions- manga and anime. The recent anime version is grabbing attention due to its beautiful art style. Horimiya characters start with the main stars Kyoko Hori and Izumi Miyamura.
The ultra-popular Kyoko Hori seems to be a frivolous high-school girl. But, in reality, she’s a simple, family-oriented person. On the other hand, Izumi Miyamura is an average, gloomy high schoolboy. In fact, he’s actually an attractive young boy covered with tattoos and piercings. When these two similar classmates have a random encounter outdoors, an adorable sweet tale begins.
Miyamura is one of the main protagonists of the Horimiya series. Izumi was noticeably shy and found it difficult to interact with his friends in junior high school. Due to the pessimistic treatment given by his classmates, Miyamura ended up with 10 piercings in total. He pierced 4 on each ear, one on lips, and one on the tongue with safety pins. Izumi always felt that school life was difficult to deal with.
Until the beginning of his third-year high school life, he remained with that gloomy personality. When Miyamura and Hori meet each other’s hidden sides that time Izumi felt an affinity and slowly revealed his friendly side. Gradually, interacting more with his classmates, Miyamura lets out his friendlier side. He doesn’t feel the aloneness anymore. Izumi’s needed in the group and becomes everyone’s support.
Hori is also the main protagonist of the Horimiya series. Kyoko is a very beautiful, cute, energetic, and popular girl in her high school. She’s always surrounded by a group of friends to chat with after classes.
In her true self, Hori is actually a simple girl who helps out in household chores and wears plain clothes. She’s hardworking, a motherly figure for her younger brother, and frivolous. When she’s embarrassed Hori is often switched to her violent mode.
Yuki goes to the same high school along with Hori and she is her best friend. Yoshikawa is easy-going and very friendly who can make friends easily. Being around her creates a fun and happy atmosphere. Though she acts lazy sometimes.
Yoshikawa often hides her pessimistic feelings, especially in front of her friends. Whenever she hides these negative feelings, Yuki pretends to smile as if nothing happened. Due to this, the things that she desires are always out of her reach.
Toru is the supporting character in the Horimiya series. He becomes Miyamura’s best buddies after joining the pack. Ishikawa had feelings for Hori at the beginning, but on learning Hori and Miyamura had feelings for each other, he stepped back. Yuki and Toru started to spend more time after Hori and Miyamura started dating. This group of four buddies started to reveal their true selves to each other and gradually became closer to each other.
Other Horimiya characters include Kakeru Sengoku, the student council president of the high school. He might seem strict at first but he’s warm-hearted and easily fluster over personal matters. Sakura Kono is a shy personality who explores her true self once she joins this group of friends.
