5 New Kdramas Worth Watching in January 2022

The beginning of 2022 is quite a blast. With new Korean dramas releasing in January 2022, your schedule might get packed by adding new dramas to the list.

Kim Nam Gil, Bi (Rain), Kim Beom, and Im Si Wan are back with brand new dramas.

Which Korean dramas are you most excited about? Which new dramas are you planning to watch?

1. Ghost Doctor

TvN is back again to entertain us in 2022. The Ghost Doctor is one of the most awaited Kdramas in 2022 and frankly, it didn’t disappoint.

The Ghost Doctor started airing on 3 January 2022, on the Monday-Tuesday timeslot. As the name suggests, yes there is literally a ghost involved.

The male protagonist Cha Young Min is played by Rain. Starring in the drama Go Seung Tak played by Kim Beom.

Cha Young Min is a successful but arrogant doctor.

He is a combination of genius but selfish. He became famous during his operation when he was an intern.

Go Seung Tak, on the other hand, is a medical genius, but mostly a bookworm lacking practical skills.

He is the grandson of the chairman, hence getting preferential treatment from everyone except Cha Young Min.

Due to an accident and an elaborate set-up, Cha Young Min gets into an accident and becomes the coma ghost.

The only person who can see and get possessed is Go Seung Tak.

Ghost Doctor replaced Secret Inspector and Joy Kdramas which was one of the most enjoyable historical Kdramas of 2021.

2. Tracer

Tracer is an MBC/Wavve Kdrama that started airing on 7 January 2022.

The Kdrama has a very interesting cast of Im Si Wan, Ko Ah Sung, Son Hyun Joo and Park Young Woo.

Hwang Dong Ju (Im Si Wan) works as the chief of the National Tax Service, Division 5.

He has his own past which made him motivated to oversee tax audits and trace money that people have hidden.

Through an incident, he meets So Hye Sung, who later becomes her teammate.

The drama is pretty interesting a gave a  38 Task Force vibe.

It was entertaining to see Im Si Wan’s character relentlessly chase the tax frauds.

3. Through the Darkness

The 12 episodes of SBS Kdrama started airing on 14 January 2022.

The weekend slot will be entertaining with Through The Darkness Korean drama with Kim Nam Gil returning as a criminal profiler.

The Red Hat serial killer has been terrorising the people and attacking women.

The Kdrama is adapted from the non-fiction book of 2018 written by the first profiler in Korea.

4. All of Us Are Dead

All of Us Are Dead is a Netflix series released on 28 January 2022.

The zombie craze hasn’t died down, which brings us a new Zombie outbreak centred drama.

The story portrays a group of high school students dealing with a sudden zombie outbreak.

All of Us Are Dead is based on the Webcomic by Joo Dong Geun in the Line Naver app.

5. Rookie Cops

Rookie Cops will be released on Disney+ on 26 January 2022.

The Korean drama Rookie Cops will star Chae Soo Bin and Kang Daniel in the main role.

The trailer itself looked pretty interesting and it did give a Police University vibe.

The plot seems very similar as the female lead enters the police university because of someone she likes.

This is the debut acting project for Wanna One idol Kang Daniel, so it’s worth anticipating.

He plays the role of Wi Seung Hyun, an elite student on top of his class.

Rookie Cops will be top on the watch list because it seems pretty refreshing.
