Megumi Fushiguro is one of the protagonists in the running shonen anime series, Jujutsu Kaisen. He is a first-year at Tokyo Jujutsu High and a descendant of the Zenin Family.
His stoic, secretive, and calculative demeanor might come off as boring to some people, (those people being Aoi Todo and him alone).
However, the tall, dark-haired, and aloof young man catches the eyes of many in the Jujutsu Kaisen Universe, fandom included since we’re no longer shy or secretive about our 2D crushes.
Megumi is a kind person at heart and a realist. He goes to great lengths to protect those he cares about.
But is there someone special in Megumi’s heart? Let’s find out!
1. Kugisaki Nobara
This one seems like an obvious pairing, on paper.
It is the standard operating procedure to pair up the one female lead with either of the two male protagonists or, create a flimsy love triangle *cough* Sakura and Sasuke *cough*.
Megumi and Nobara start out on somewhat stand-offish terms.
However, the two bond fairly quickly thereafter, since they have to go on missions together.
The two are greatly protective of each other during missions.
They grieved the loss of Itadori together after Sukuna ripped Itadori’s heart out during a mission.
They even had the same reaction on discovering that Itadori wasn’t dead at all.
In short, the two share great chemistry together and care deeply for one another.
However, we can’t really say there is anything romantic going on between the two.
Their relationship is purely platonic as of now and will remain so indefinitely.
2. Maki Zenin
This is a ship I’d rather not think about so let's nip it in the bud if we can.
Maki Zenin is Megumi’s senior at Tokyo Jujutsu High and also Megumi’s aunt!
Even though their relationship is more that of a senpai and an underclassman, Megumi’s father Toji is the nephew of Ogi Zenin who is Maki and Mai’s father.
Fushiguro does have great compatibility with Maki during fights and they often train together.
With that being said, let’s not make “MeguMaki” a thing in any event and maintain the sanctity of their relationship.
3. Ryomen Sukuna
Alright, hear me out!
The first this Sukuna saw after being resurrected was Megumi Fushiguro.
Although he didn’t pay much attention to him at the time because he was distracted by Satoru Gojo (who could blame him?).
The very next time Megumi and Sukuna come face to face and the king of curses is intrigued by Megumi’s unique power and potential.
When Sukuna proposes to bring Itadori back to life and Itadori tells him he just doesn't want to die either, Sukuna says that the situation has changed, because in time he'll be able to see something interesting, while he thinks of Megumi.
In another instance, whilst almost killing Mahito, Sukuna said that he truly doesn’t care if he dies or if someone else dies, if it's not about Megumi.
Sukuna is always secretly observing Megumi’s growth which was in fact triggered by something Sukuna said.
Now I know, all of this is probably definitely because Sukuna wants to use Megumi’s powers for some evil plan.
However, until we know what that is, we are allowed to ship the two of them together and imagine a toxic BL manhwa-styled romance budding between the king of all curses and the naive exorcist.
Unfortunately, this is where the list of potential romantic partners for Megumi ends.
Gege Akutami isn’t very interested in exploring any romantic threads, especially for their main characters.
Most relationship possibilities are fanships with little canon backing.
We should be mentally prepared that by the end of the JJK series, Fushiguro might end up with no one, or worse, dead!
Ultimately, the fate of Megumi Fushiguro’s love interest lies in the hands of Akutami Sensei. All we can do is wait and ship!
