Haikyuu has disclosed several special initiatives to mark the 10th anniversary of the manga serialization in the latest issue of Weekly Shonen Jump (WSJ). Haruichi Furudate, the series' creator, also created a one-shot for the fans. Let's take a look at all of the projects that have been announced thus far.
Haikyuu began serialization in Weekly Shonen Jump on February 20, 2012, and now, ten years later, the franchise has disclosed some big projects relating to the series' future. In issue #12 of the Wall Street Journal, Haikyuu unveiled eight of its ten key initiatives. The following is a list of all the announcements:
Haruichi Furudate will illustrate the characters of Haikyuu (2022 Ver.) one by one to commemorate the tenth anniversary! Kenma, Kuro, and Oikawa are the first three characters. Look forward to seeing the whole product, as more visuals will be published later.
The Haikyuu Exhibition FINAL will be held in Tokyo, and it will be Haikyuu! final !'s exhibition to mark the end of the series! From February 16th through March 11th, 2022, the exhibition will be open to the public.
Haruichi Furudate will write a new radio web drama titled "Karasuno High School Broadcasting Club"! It will be a short drama that follows the lives of the "Haikyuu!!" characters on a daily basis. On February 28th, the broadcast will begin!
In August 2022, a new "Haikyuu!! x V. League Special Collaboration Match" has been announced! The match will be broadcast live on the Japanese network and will be shown in front of a live audience. Haruichi Furudate will also contribute a major visual.
In Weekly Shonen Jump, Furudate-sensei will create a new Haikyuu!! one-shot, which will be a special story featuring Hinata and his buddies in the year 2022. According to insiders, the one-shot will appear in a future issue of the Wall Street Journal.
In the near future, a unique tribute book commemorating Haikyuu! tenth !'s anniversary will be published. This will be the final book, looking back on the history of "Haikyuu!!" from the beginning of its serialization in 2012 until the present!
For the first time, Haruichi Furudate's LINE stickers will be manufactured. There will also be new LINE stickers designed by Retsu (Let's Haikyuu!!) and Kyohei Miyajima (Haikyu-bu!!).
This year, the manga Haikyuu!! will be released in a digital full-color form as well as a remix version. Starting April 4th, 2022, digital full-color volumes will be distributed monthly, and Jump Remix volumes will be released on March 11th, 2022.
Projects #9 and #10 are yet to be released, although one of them is likely to be an anime announcement that will be given to fans at a later date. Notably, the two numerals also represent Kageyama's (9) and Hinata's (10) jersey numbers. So keep your hopes high because something fantastic is on the way!
In the most recent Weekly Shonen Jump edition, there is no mention of Haikyuu Season 5. However, there are two additional projects that are being kept under wraps for the time being and will be announced at a later period. As a result, there is still hope for the fans.
