In Haikyuu season 1 episode 7, Oikawa made it hard for the team to stand in the court. But somehow they managed to win the match because of Hinata and Kageyama’s outstanding teamwork. In Haikyuu season 1 episode 8, Nishinoya returned to the team but refused to play without Asahi, he who was called ‘the ace’.

Nishinoya was a short heighted second year student at Karasuno High School. He served as the libero for Karasuno’s team. He was considered as ‘Karasuno’s Guardian Deity’ because of his remarkable skill. He was a very energetic and temperamental person.

Nishinoya was suspended from school and when he returned he was very excited to see the first year’s who joined the volley ball club, but when Nishinoya got to know that Asahi had not joined the team, he was angry and sad and refused to join the team.

Nishinoya and Asahi were the older version of what Hinata and Kageyama were at that moment. They had always played together. So when Asahi decided to leave the team Nishinoya didn’t want to play anymore without him.

On the other hand, Takeda was trying to convince a reluctant Keishin Ukai to take over as the coach. Ukai was a very popular name in the prefecture. As Keishin’s dad was the previous coach of Karasuno High, they always managed to give a tough competition to other teams in the prefecture. Takeda wanted other people to think that Karasuno’s foundation was strong which was only possible if Keishin agreed to be the new coach for the team. Keishin denied the offer. But Takeda was not ready to give up just yet.

Sugawara tried to talk to Asahi to re-join the team but he was not ready. Still he gave it a thought after Hinata talked to him. When Hinata and Kageyama came to talk to him he told them that he was scared of being blocked in the net. So to this Hinata gave him his own experience when he was new at Karasuno and was scared of being blocked himself as he was short compared to other players.

But he overcame his fear and received proper guidance and then had perfect teamwork with Kageyama. Hinata’s words were like a wake up call for him. While going home he once visited the court and was amazed to see the teamwork they both had.

Will the one who was called ‘The Ace’ return to the team?
