In Haikyuu season 1 episode 16, after the girls lost, the boys promised victory. Nishinoya made a rousing speech, but Karasuno still must find a way to break Date Tech’s “Iron Wall”. In Haikyuu season 1 episode 17, as Karasuno battled Date Tech, the opposing ace targeted Hinata forcing the team’s hand early in the game. It looks like Karasuno is all out of tricks. Will they be able to fight Date Tech’s Iron Wall?

During practice, Nishinoya cheered them on by saying that all they have to do was stay in the game and as the libero of the team he had their back. Everybody was filled with great level of excitement for the match. Asahi who was feeling nervous before the match was uplifted when he saw Nishinoya’s confidence in him. Karasuno’s second match was with the Date Tech team from the Miyagi Prefecture. The boys’ volleyball club was known for its exceptional defense and tall players; they had the highest blocking rate in the prefecture, thus nicknamed the ‘Iron Wall’.

As the match started, both the teams were playing very carefully. But as the match went on Karasuno scored their first point. It was a motivating moment for the entire team as Asahi was very nervous of being blocked. He was still afraid of Date Tech’s Iron Wall. As Date Tech saw that Karasuno were leading they retaliated with their best blocker Aone. Aone was Date Tech’s most notable player and team’s lead blocker.

During the fourth point, Aone blocked Hinata with his amazing reflexes. That was the time when Hinata felt a little hopeless but Kageyama had his back. He helped him realise that they would  stay in the match till the end. When it was time out, Karasuno was still leading  with two points. Everybody in the Gymnasium was talking about Hinata. He was already known by nicknames like ‘The Number 10’ or ‘The Devil Attack’. Everybody was shocked to see Kageyama and Hinata’s teamwork.

One of the players sitting in the audience had watched Kageyama play in his junior high school and he knew no one could fit with Kageyama’s tosses but Hinata’s spikes were perfect with Kageyama. They were like yin and yang to each other. All this time, Karasuno had a strategy. It was their strategy to make Hinata stand out during the match, so that they could make way for Asahi to score.

All this time Asahi barely scored. They kept him as their lethal weapon for the end. As Hinata was the golden boy of the match, all the eyes were on him. Date Tech’s coach strictly ordered the full team to keep a check on Hinata. And as everybody was busy dealing wirth Hinata, Karasuno used the Nekoma’s last shot of the match. They lagged the time difference with Date Tech and Asahi was able to score the final point of the match. That moment was the highlight of the match.

Every team sitting in the audience was dumbstruck with Karasuno’s performance. Asahi was happy that he was able to score the winning point for the team. Hinata had a strange look on his face. Even though he didn’t score the last point, he was still happy by helping out the team. That is when he understood that sportsmanship was the best quality for any player. He wasbmore ecstatic when Kageyama said that if you helped the team you were as good as the Ace.

Now that they’ve shown everyone that they are still in the game, will they reach the next level of inter-high preliminaries?
