Haikyuu Season 1 Episode 10 Review | 'The Team'

In Haikyuu season 1 episode 9, when Karasuno’s coach arranged a game against the team of alumni, Asahi was forced to play and prove that he was called ‘The Ace’ for a reason. In Haikyuu Season 1 Episode 10, coach Ukai evaluates the skill of the duo Hinata and Kageyama. Now he must decide who will make up the starting line. The team was complete.

Nishinoya was the best libero Karasuno High School had. His way of blocking the ball was really helpful for everybody and as Asahi really proved why he was called ‘The Ace’ everybody was shocked to see the amazing technique he had.

Even though he was off the court for a month, it still felt like he had never left. His spikes were very smooth. As Hinata saw him playing for the first time he was very impressed by his technique. But this impression of Asahi turned into insecurity for him.

As Hinata was a short heightened kid, he always had a feeling in his heart that only if he was as tall as the other players maybe he could outshine them. The same happened with him when he saw Asahi playing.

As coach Ukai saw the whole match, he realized where the team was lagging. He knew that he had to do a lot of work in the receives of the players. The receives of the players were not as good as they should be. And burdening Nishinoya was not an option.

As Asahi saw Hinata and Kageyama’s teamwork he was shocked and he realized that Hinata really meant what he said. Even coach Ukai was bewildered for a second as he thought Kageyama won’t give Hinata any chance because of his small stature. But when Hinata tried to block Asahi, he failed. He went into his own world and he lost focus and got hit by Asahi’s fastball.

He lost hope for a moment until Kageyama made him realize that being a decoy was as good as being an Ace as long as you score a point for the team. No matter what your position was as long as you score a point for the team you’re as good as anyone capable.

But instead of understanding, he shouted at him. As they decided to move forward in the game, Kageyama made a strategy to make Hinata realize that he was worthy of being on the team. Kageyama already told the town team his move that he would toss the ball to Hinata so they should keep their focus on him.

Before the toss, he made him believe that with his agile speed he was as good as anyone on the team and as he had Kageyama by his side, he was unbeatable. Inevitably, Hinata was successful in spiking the ball. In the end, Asahi joined the team and as he joined the team Nishinoya and Sugawara were back on the team as well. Now coach Ukai’s main motive was to work on their receives.

As the team was complete, would they be able to stand against the Neko team?
