The first season of the Haikyuu  ran from April 6, 2014 to September 21, 2014.  In Haikyuu Season 1 Episode 1 , Shoyo Hinata, a high school junior got inspired about volleyball by watching an intense match while he was going home with his friends.

Hinata Shoyo became unbelievably obsessed after watching Karasuno High School playing in Nationals. Hinata was a very short heighted kid with big dreams of becoming a great volley ball player.

He was inspired by a commentators nickname ‘the little giant’, Karasuno’s short but talented wing speaker. It reminded him of himself as he was very short heighted and becoming a volley ball player was next to impossible for him. It was like a beautiful dream broken by the harsh reality when he woke up.

Though, Hinata was untrained and had never practiced before in his life, he was quite athletic and had an impressive vertical jump. He joined his school volley ball team of which he was the only member. The students didn’t have much interest in volleyball, not even his own friends.

Even the sports department head told him that no student was interested in joining the team . But Hinata was determined to make it in volleyball that he decided to make his own team and requested the head to let him do so.

The sports department head gave him a suggestion to join the girls volleyball team known as the “volley ball beauties”. But he knew if he joined the girls volley ball team his fellow mates would make fun of him. He used to practice alone on the volleyball court while the girls played.

He joined his school’s volley ball club but he spent his next two years trying to convince other students to join the club or at least play with him. He used to convince them to play with him so that he could have company while practicing. In his third and final year of junior high-school, some of Hinata’s friend agreed to join the club so that he could at least participate in one tournament.

Hinata finally got a chance to play a volley ball match at Karasuno High School after three years of long wait and practice. In his first game ever, he faced a crushing defeat even after he worked so hard for it. He knew defeating Kageyama was next to impossible but he didn’t let that thought put him down. He kept motivating himself by cheering and saying “I may be short, but at least I can jump”.

The two spark a rivalry and as they were leaving Kurasuno, Hinata vowed to defeat Kageyama in one day and be the last one standing. Keeping this thought in mind he studied really hard and made himself stronger day by day and then came the day when he was finally accepted at Kurasuno .

Thus began the journey of Hinata in Haikyuu Season 1 Episode 1 .
