Gojo Satoru, the sorcerer, the flirt, the legend. He is one of the main protagonists of Jujutsu Kaisen.
He is a special grade jujutsu sorcerer and a teacher at Tokyo Jujutsu High.
The character of Gojo was definitely written to break all popularity charts both within the Jujutsu Kaisen Universe and outside of it.
Satoru Gojo is a fairly tall man, considered to be very attractive by many people. His bright blue eyes are usually covered with a blindfold.
You would think a 28-year-old man wearing what is essentially a school uniform would get stale but Gojo makes it work.
His personality can only be described as eccentrically charming with a hint of danger lurking beneath the playfulness.
His domineering attacking styles and overpowering techniques combined with his cold-bloodedness and unpredictability during battles make him a fearsome man.
Everyone in the Jujutsu Kaisen universe is wary of his capabilities.
However, if there is anything more enigmatic than Gojo’s personality, it is his powers.
Let’s break down the innate jujutsu techniques of the strongest sorcerer in the Jujutsu Kaisen universe.
At its most basic, Limitless is an innate technique derived from the Gojo family.
This technique gives its users near-absolute control over space via cursed energy manipulation at the atomic level, resulting in a slew of subsequent results and techniques within the overall ability.
Beyond the manipulation of space, Limitless has three standard and one "non-standard" form.
The Infinity, as the Limitless' neutral form, is commonly known as the ability to stop. However, this is a common misconception because the true power of Infinity is to slow things down.
When something tries to hit Satoru, the person or object hits the infinity between himself and them.
This is the convergence of an infinite series, according to Satoru.
Similar to how the real number one will never touch the real number two due to the infinite number of fractions that separate them, the opponent will never touch Satoru due to the infinity that separates them.
Satoru has the ability to decide what touches him and what does not, based on mass, speed, and danger ratings.
In other words, Gojo can control what can and can not touch him because: math.
Cursed Technique Lapse: Blue
Blue is a byproduct of Gojo amplifying the Limitless and negative energy, resulting in a vacuum.
Gojo creates a scenario in which the world is forced to correct itself and fill in the negative space, causing all matter within the range of the commanded space to be pulled together.
Think about how if a random vacuum is created in front of you, air from all directions would rush in to fill the void.
Now replace air with actual physical space and people and things in it.
There’s a modified, more intense form of this technique known as Cursed Technique Lapse Maximum Cursed Energy Output: Blue.
Satoru has the ability to create a center of gravity in a specific space capable of attracting all matter and crushing it effortlessly, much like a black hole.
He can also move the point of gravity at will, greatly increasing its destructive capabilities.
Cursed Technique Reversal: Red
Red has the opposite effect of Blue because it is an inversion of Blue.
Gojo activates the divergence of his infinity and causes an extremely powerful repulsive force, repelling all matter in its vicinity, by using his reversal technique to invert the properties of Blue.
The ability has twice the destructive power of Blue because it is powered by positive cursed energy and formed as a reverse curse technique.
Think of this one as like poles of magnets repelling each other and replacing the other magnet with people and/or objects.
Hollow Technique: Purple
A non-standard Limitless technique that is more potent and destructive than the two standard forms that only a select few are aware of, even among members of the Gojo Family.
Satoru snaps his fingers, combining "Blue" (attraction) and "Red" (repulsion), generating a long-ranged singularity that combines both effects, instantly deleting and erasing all matter in its path.
This one can be thought of as a garden hose let loose, destroying everything in its path.
In the 20th episode of Jujutsu Kaisen season 1 titled ‘Nonstandard’, Gojo used his Hollow technique for the first time on screen against Hanami.
We do not know much about Six Eyes as of now. We know they play a role in the precise application of the Limitless. Six Eyes, like Limitless, is an Innate Technique passed down through the Gojo family.
Yuta has stated that the Six Eyes allows Satoru to reduce his cursed energy consumption from technique activation to almost nothing.
As a result, he will never run out of cursed energy in a fight. It isn’t made clear whether this refers to the cost of the techniques themselves or the reduction of unnecessary loss in the interest of efficiency.
His use of the phrase "Maximum Cursed Energy Output" suggests the latter.
It is strongly implied that Six Eyes enables Gojo to perceive the world in terms of mass, speed, energy.
Domain Expansion: Unlimited Void
The domain created by Unlimited Void is a literal empty void of space that appears to take the target to the center of the universe itself.
In this metaphysical space, victims are constantly bombarded with stimuli and information, limiting their thought processes and actions.
In other words, they receive every conceivable input in terms of vision, sound, and touch.
This forces them to see and feel everything while seeing and feeling nothing at precisely the same time.
This phenomenon paralyzes the target with infinite knowledge of literally everything, making them die ever so slowly.
Gojo's command of his Domain is so precise that he can activate it for only 0.2 seconds (if you know, you know), limiting the duration of its effect on those he traps within it.
Those with whom he comes into physical contact are immune to its effects.
That was it for Gojo’s innate techniques he inherited from the Satoru family. If that was too complicated to understand, you can chalk it all up to Gojo can do so and so because Physics says so.
Jujutsu Kaisen even recruited scientists from Riken Scientific Institute and the Institute of Statistical Mathematics to explain the nature of powers and techniques in the Manga and the show.
The Deep Learning theory team at RIKEN has collaborated with Jujutsu Kaisen to publish an article about Satoru Gojo's cursed techniques in Jump GIGA's Summer 2021 issue.
You could read it up if you are curious to understand Gojo’s techniques that intimately.
For us, Gojo blasting off Jogo’s head in one fell swoop and unleashing his Hollow technique needlessly while looking gorgeous as ever is everything we need and more.
