Shin Ha Ri’s predicament and torment started after she went as a stand-in/ fake date for her friend Jin Yeong Seo.
Things escalated quickly when Jin Yeong Seo disclosed the truth and almost lost the one true love of her life, Cha Sung Hoon.

Friends Don’t Lie...or Do They?
After the pretense was over, a betrayed Kang Tae Moo insisted Jin Yeong Seo introduce the real person or “her friend” to him.
It didn’t much for someone at the IQ of Kang Tae Moo to figure out that Shin Ha Ri/Shin Geum Hui was a friend or at least acquainted to Jin Yeong Seo.
Kang Tae Moo was already suffering catering to his grandpa’s demands and even had to attend nearly 10 wedding dates on a single day. Poor Kang Tae Moo.
Kang Tae Moo decided that the only person he can depend on was Shin Ha Ri (fake Jing Yeong Seo).
Kang Tae Moo devised a genius plan to enter into a fake contractual relationship with Shin Ha Ri to fool his grandpa and escape the dating hell.
With her hands tied and feeling guilty, Jin Yeong Seo decided to betray her bestie and comply with Kang Tae Moo’s demands.
Without letting Shin Ha Ri discover the truth, Jin Yeong Seo handed her over to Kang Tae Moo to escape the trouble. Jin Yeong Seo did tell her after they reached the venue but it was too late for Shin Ha Ri to make a run for it.
From Shin Ha Ri to Shin Geum Hui
Before Shin Ha Ri could do anything to defend herself, Kang Tae Moo got hold of her weakness.
Now, he’s aware of Shin Ha Ri’s family and threatened to visit their chicken place if she didn’t comply with his wishes.
It was funny and sad at the same time because Kang Tae Moo wasn’t aware of his feelings for Shin Ha Ri and possibly thought the contractual dating can help him take care of the situation and be close to her.
Well, it was determined to fool his grandpa, he could hire anyone, but it doesn’t really have to be her.
Well, that’s the Kdrama cliche plot used by Business Proposal where Kang Tae Moo will fall with Shin Ha Ri as the person disguised as Shin Geum Hui.
When asked for her name, Shin Ha Ri introduced herself as Shin Geum Hui to protect her secret. Her life would be in chaos if Kang Tae Moo ever learned that she worked for his company.
Resignation would be the last of her problems, there would literally be hell awaiting her. It’s not like she had a lot of options left.
Initially, Shin Ha Ri denied accepting the contract, but Kang Tae Moo cornered her mercilessly.
After learning the terms of the agreement, Shin Geum Hui was set to save herself from the discovery. Kang Tae Moo started calling her at night just to check up on her which definitely killed her sleep.
One thing’s for sure is that both Kang Tae Moo and Cha Sung Hoon both agree that the fake “Jin Yeong Seo” aka Shin Ha Ri was not boring and way better than his marriage prospects.
Kang Tae Moo went as far as to concoct lies to escape from his grandpa, involving Cha Seung Hoon. Another Kdrama cliche where they accidentally kiss because trying to hide from family is a must maybe. That scene was less cringe than other Kdramas for sure.
After getting the complete information, Shin Ha Ri transformed into Shin Geum Hui. Thanks to her good memorization skills, Shin Ha Ri learned everything about Kang Tae Moo to become the perfect girlfriend.
The Unexpected Date
One last act of kindness from Lee Min Woo; was it cruel or thoughtful hard to tell? Lee Min Woo presented Shin Ha Ri tickets for a concert of her favorite band.
Thanks to Kang Tae Moo’s grandpa, Shin Geum Hui, and Kang Tae Moo attended the concert together. That wasn’t the end of the surprise.
The special event was created for Shin Ha Ri, as Kang Tae Moo became a part of it and played the role of “fake boyfriend”. Wait till Lee Min Woo hears of it!
The fake couple had a heartfelt exchange where Shin Ha Ri talked about her one-sided 7-year crush. At least, Shin ha Ro got the closure that she very much deserved.
Kang Tae Moo and Shin Ha Ri had a good time exploring food and our nerdy researcher talked about food.
This definitely got Kang Tae Moo’s attention who had a similar feeling to the researcher Shin Ha Ri. Slowly, Kang Tae Moo was falling for Shin Geum Hui, unaware that she was Shin Ha Ri.
The Secret Life of Shin Geum Hui
Shin Ha Ri’s life was definitely getting complicated trying to avoid Kang Tae Moo at work. It was bound to happen sooner or later, as she can’t hide forever.
Kang Tae Moo was interested in developing a new menu where Shin Ha Ri and her one-sided crush Lee Min Woo would work together.
Sure, life’s easy breezy for Shin Ha Ri. Trying to escape from Kang Tae Moo even after working hours. As Shin Ha Ri and Jin Yeong Seo were at their usual banter, it was suspicious as Shi Ha Ri defend Kang Tae Moo.
Meanwhile, Kang Tae Moo watched the clip of the researcher team where he saw Shin Ha Ri. He can’t help but unknowingly feel the connection with Shin Ha Ri as well.
Kang Tae was worried about Shin Geum Hui who previously hurt her eye when they left the concert. He made up an excuse to deliver ointment to meet up with her late at night.
The couple later went for good shopping and a fine dining experience. Shin Ha Ri almost had an embarrassing experience but Kang Tae Moo saved her. Kang Tae Moo is considerate and a gentleman.
They even watched fireworks and the sparks were flying. Shin Ha Ri was falling for him, but was Kang Tae Moo already smitten with Shin Geum Heui at this point? His kindness and demeanor portray this at least.
One thing was sure Kang Tae Moo was in love at this point with Shin Geum Hui; or the idea of Shin Geum Hui who was Shin Ha Ri in reality.
The story was going well, but Kang Tae Moo was in for a shocking revelation. Kang Tae Moo discovered that Shin Geum Hui was none other than Shin Ha Ri. What will Kang Tae Moo do now? The one Kang Tae Moo loved Shin Geum Hui or Shin Ha Ri???
