After alerting the 104th about the breach in the Wall, Nanaba goes to meet up with Mike. As she asks where the Titans are, Mike informs her that they're ahead of them.
As Nanaba assesses the situation, she starts getting bleaker and bleaker.
She reaches the conclusion that their worst-case scenario is happening at that exact moment. As she crouches, she states that humanity has lost.
Mike turns his gaze back at her and says "not yet". He reassures her that humanity's first defeat will come when they stop fighting.
And reiterates that as long as they keep fighting, they haven't lost.
Nanaba quickly looks at the 104th and says she can't let them see her defeated. So Mike offers her: "come... Now we fight".
Later on, when the Beast Titan finds Mike, one of the last words he remembers before dying, and that gives him the strength to keep fighting, are the ones he said to Nanaba earlier that day.
After Nanaba and Mike's death, Erwin Smith contemplates the deaths of his comrades and soldiers. In his mind, Nanaba lies with Mike at the top of the corpse mountain, staring back at him.
Attack on Junior High
In Attack on Junior High, it seems that Nanaba has some sort of connection to Mike. They both are members of the Cooking Club.
When Nanaba enrolled in the club, Mike took her under his wing. In an attempt to show her skills, Nanaba makes a rice ball and asks Mike to eat it, however, he says he won't eat anything made by the member of the cooking club.
Nanaba took it to heart, thinking that Mike's opinion on their cooking skills must be below, but it turns out that Mike only eats food made by his parents.
Apparently, Nanaba was carrying the discarded rice ball with her, Mike makes an exception for her and promptly eats it.
It is so delicious that he collapses on the grass. He asks her to teach him how to make such tasty rice balls, and Nanaba happily agrees.
Another time, both Nanaba and Mike slept together in one blanket inside the cabin. There was an occasional blush from Nanaba while Mike didn't seem to notice.
