Alice in Borderland is based on the Manga written by Haro Aso of the same name.

Alice in Borderland, also known as Imawa no Kuni no Alice manga, has run serialization from 2010 to 2016.

The manga had 18 volumes and 87 chapters and is completed. Alice in Borderland has a 3 part of OVA that finished airing in 2015.

The story revolves around the main protagonist Arisu, who is an obsessed gamer who gets transported to an empty version of Tokyo with his best friends, Chota and Karube.

Arisu and his friends need to compete in dangerous games to collect 52 cards to extend their “Visa” to stay in the distorted version of Tokyo.

Arisu meets Usage, another gamer and they form a team and a relationship of sorts.

Failing to pass the games or extending the visa will result in you getting killed.

The question is whether Arisu will survive till the end or not!

Alice in Borderland Cast

 cast of the show

Yamazaki Kento Plays the lead role of Arisu, Tao Tsuchiya plays the role of Usagi, Nijiro Murakami as Chishiya, Keita Machida as Karube, Yuki Morinaga as Chota, Ayaka Miyoshi as An,  Sho Aoyagi as Aguni, Ayame Misaki As Shinuki, Aya Asahina as Kuina and Riisa Naka as Mira are some of the main characters.

The casts were really amazing, you can feel the intense emotions, the fear, and the struggle. Well, prepare yourself for some epic betrayals.

Is Alice in Borderland worth watching?

This is not even a question to have second thoughts about! Alice is Borderland is a must-watch drama and is highly recommended because:

  • Yamazaki Kento will captivate you with his acting, his character’s wits, and his emotional setting. If you don’t cry once after seeing the series, kudos to you.
  • You can’t take your off Chishiya, not because he’s attractive and sly, but because he is damn Sly and ready to betray anyone to serve his own motives!
  • Usagi seems to be the only level-headed and rational person in Alice in Borderland, where most characters are insane and purely nuts.
  • The final reveal of the game master will make you want to flip your devices and bang your head after watching the end. The end was well done and satisfying...BUT a big BUT…..

Did Chota and Karube really die?

Netflix drama

Unfortunately, they had a sad demise. In the Betrayal game of tag and wolf, they sacrificed themselves to save Arisu.

The fans hoped for some twist till the end, but the show didn’t let it happen.

They both died a very gruesome and sad death. RIP Chota and Karube. They are the definition of BFFs!

Will there be a season 2 of Alice in Borderland?

As of now, there has been no official news from Japan or Netflix, but the fans can be hopeful.

The way the series ended in a massive cliffhanger and given the popularity of the show, it’s impossible not to have a sequel.

The ending was good, but Alice in Borderland season 2 is a must. Fans let’s keep praying.

For fans who are still wondering why is the name Alice and who is Alice, it took me a few seconds to understand myself.

Arisu or Alice seems like a wordplay in my opinion.

If you’re aware, the Japanese language doesn’t have the “L” sound, it’s all R..Alice can be Arisu...it’s a clever move.

Well, Enjoy Yamazaki Kento as Arisu/ Alice who’s trapped in this reality, and enjoy Alice in Wonderland Series available on Netflix!
