Death Note is an anime where the death of multiple characters was not a big deal. Perhaps the entire anime was based around how Death Note was used to destroy the perpetrators of crime and make the world a place worth living in and later kill off the threatening death note characters to cover up for Kira.
There are, though, many death note characters whose deaths have been very upsetting, and we can’t help but make ourselves feel sad. So, here are those, out of many, 5 Death Note Characters that faced the Most Disturbing and Disheartening Deaths.
1. L

“Whatever the reason may be, murder is always wrong.” – L Lawliet
L was one of the best and most loved death note characters. We may not have loved L more than Light, but his death undoubtedly made us feel numb. He died on the brink of exposing Misa Amane. Out of her love for Misa, Rem wrote the names of Watari and L on the death note.
It triggered a heart attack on L, and he collapsed on Light, and the mocking grin on Light’s face was obvious enough for L to realize that Light was the Kira he was looking for.
A person who was loyal to the standards of justice and reality died so quickly in the show that he brought tears to the eyes of many people. He will undoubtedly remain one of the best death note characters.
2. Kiyomi Takada

Kiyomi Takada loved Light Yagami, and Light just took advantage of her. He persuaded her to work for him and to return; he will make her his goddess in the new world. However, she was one of those characters who faced a very brutal death.
She wasn’t one of the favorite death note characters, but her death definitely gave us Goosebumps. When Takada was abducted by Mello, Light Yagami asked her to write Mello’s name in a piece of Death Note paper that Takada had. Light assured her that she would be rescued eventually.
But in the Death Note, he wrote Takada’s name specifying that she would burn herself alive and burn all the evidence so that no one could discover Light.
3. Naomi Misora

Naomi Misora, a former FBI agent, was Raye Penber’s fiancé and one of the smartest death note characters who had a firm theory that would have exposed Light easily.
However, fate was on Light’s side when he approached her at headquarters while she was there to visit somebody from the task force so that she could discuss her theory on Kira.
Naomi was confident that Kira was able to kill people instead of just heart attacks. She was really clever and didn’t share her true name when she met Light as she was sure that Raye Penber died as he revealed his real identity to someone on the bus that she was sure was Kira.
Light pretended to be a member of the task force to win her confidence. Later, he tricked her to share her true name. On the Death Note, he wrote that Naomi would die by suicide because of the sorrow of her fiancé’s death and that her body would not be found. As an ex-FBI agent, she wasn’t meant to die this way, but her emotions dominated her rationality and she was easily manipulated.
4. Soichiro Yagami

“The real evil is the power to kill people. Someone who finds himself with that power is cursed. No matter how you use it, anything obtained by killing people can never bring true happiness.” – Soichiro Yagami
Soichiro Yagami was one of the humble Death Note Characters. It was indeed peaceful for a father whose son was a murderer to die thinking that Light was not Kira.
Soichiro’s death was one of the disheartening moments because of his very son Light. Soichiro suspected Light, his own son, being Kira. Soichiro was seriously injured by the bomb and rushed to the hospital.
Even when he was on the verge of his life, Light was eager to get the name of Mello instead of taking any consideration of his own father. It was also disheartening to see that a son seemed to have no sympathy for his dying father.
Though Light was affected later, the initial reasons were unacceptable. It was a good thing that Soichiro did not know that Light was Kira, or that his death would not have given him any peace like his painful life.

5. Light Yagami

“I am Justice! I protect the innocent and those who fear evil. I’m the one that will become the god of a new world that everyone desires!”– Light Yagami
Light Yagami, the protagonist or the anti-hero, was no wonder, despite what he did, one of the favorite Death Note characters. Initially, his dream of making a sin-free world revealed how gracious he was. However, the thirst for power made him the one he despised the most.
He began to eliminate every person that was a threat to his acts as a Kira. He was evil, but we can’t help but dishearten ourselves when he dies. The sense of grief remains forever. Light Yagami was powerless, and he died the way he murdered other people.
He called out for help, but no one cared for him, not even Ryuk when Light asked him to write the names of everyone in the room. Rather, Ryuk himself wrote the name of Light in the Death Note and killed him reminding him of when Ryuk said
“When you die, I’ll be the one writing your name in my Death Note.”- Ryuk
In the anime, he was shot multiple times by Matsuda when the truth of Kira was out. Much like Light used other characters like Naomi, Misa, Takada, etc., Ryuk used Light Yagami for entertainment.
Isn’t it ironic?
Yet Light Yagami still remains the smartest and one of the best Death Note characters for us all.
