4 Similarities Between Jujutsu Kaisen & Naruto

2 groups of men and women face off each other

Jujutsu Kaisen is a popular series by Gege Akutami. The first season of the anime series aired from October 2020 to March 2021.

The story typically centers around a first-year high school student Yuji Itadori. He is living a normal school life with his friends in his occult club.

Following his grandfather's death, Yuji found himself involved in a supernatural world of curses he had never even heard of before.

As a member of an Occult club, Yuji loved to find spooky objects with his friends.

He took a cursed object from his school and handed it to his club members, not knowing that this mysterious item was classified as a special-grade object.

Megumi Fushiguro, a first-year in Jujutsu Tech briefed Yuji about curses, spirits, and Jujutsu Sorcerers and explained to him why his friends were in danger.

The cursed object was a finger that belonged to Ryomen Sukuna and it was capable of attracting cursed spirits that seek its powers for themselves.

As Megumi said that the spirits consuming the finger would gain immeasurable powers, Yuji decided to consume it himself to defeat a curse when he and Megumi were about to die.

If a normal person had consumed the finger, they would've died instantly in any circumstances.

However, there is a one-in-a-million chance that the cursed object being consumed gets reincarnated as a cursed spirit.

This is what happened in Yuji's case.

Due to Yuji's desperate move to save Fushiguro, Sukuna got reincarnated as a spirit and started living inside Yuji's body.

It is undeniable fact that Naruto and Jujutsu Kaisen have completely different storylines.

However, fans believe that there are some key similarities between the two that are just too hard to ignore.

Geke Akutami revealed that Naruto was one of the major influences in creating Jujutsu Kaisen.

This explains the slight resemblance of the series with Naruto. Here, we will discuss the hidden similarities between Jujutsu Kaisen and Naruto.

1. Team of Four

In Konoha, every newly Genin will be assigned to a team of three under the mentorship of a Jonin.

This will make up a team of four and they will be assigned for missions as team members.

Naruto's team was comprised of two boys, one girl, and a mentor.

In Jujutsu Kaisen, it was simply a coincidence that Gojo's class ended up with the same setting.

Gojo explains that there aren't many people in the world who have the power to become a jujutsu sorcerer. So, the first years were only three students.

2. Gojo and Kakashi

You can't ignore the similarities between Satoru Gojo and Kakashi Hatake even if you wanted to.

They both have special powers in their eyes, white hair, and also wear masks to hide their eyes.

Not to mention that both characters are equally cool, talented, fearless, and relentless.

3. Powerful Beings Residing in the Protagonist's Body

Naruto had the Nine-Tailed Beast, Kuruma sealed inside his body shortly after his birth.

Kuruma was one of the most powerful beings in the world, born about a millennia ago.

However, in Jujutsu Kaisen, Yuji swallowed Sukuna's finger voluntarily and ended up sharing the same body like him.

Like Kuruma, Sukuna was also one of the world's most powerful being born over a millennia ago.

4. Summoning Technique

Summoning Jutsu or some call it Kuchiyose Jutsu, is a technique that allows the ninja to summon animals, objects, and the dead to fight on their behalf.

Megumi Fushiguro and a few others in Jujutsu Kaisen possess a somewhat similar ability. Both skills require hand signs as well.

The only difference is that they summon shinigami they have made a contract with and let them fight on their behalf.

In both series, the summoning techniques are considered exceptionally strong and useful.
